Reinforced soil retaining walls, as a new type of flexible retaining structure for roadbeds, have the advantages of low cost, simple component manufacturing, fast construction, and good adaptability to the foundation compared to general retaining walls. They are a new direction for the development of retaining buildings. The reinforcement principle of reinforced earth retaining walls is that the application of geogrids or high-strength woven fabrics to the soil can improve its mechanical properties. The interaction between the reinforcement and the soil is transmitted through the frictional force and passive earth pressure between the fill and reinforcement. Friction is generated where there is relative shear strain between the fill and the reinforcement, while passive earth pressure is generated at the transverse reinforcement of the reinforcement. The main function of geogrids or high-strength woven fabrics is to suppress the deformation of fill soil, withstand tensile stress or shear and bending.
